Championing Fairness, Transparency and the Rights of the Child

Who Are We?
About the Founder
Lynsey French, Founder of SAFE Family Courts Scotland
I founded SAFE Family Courts Scotland to be the voice for families who have been failed by a system that operates in the shadows.
With an LLB from the University of Glasgow and nearly 20 years of experience in primary education, I have spent my career dedicated to the well-being and development of children. However, my most important role is that of a mother. My own experience navigating the Scottish Sheriff Courts—where I saw my children removed despite a clean record of care and their own expressed wishes—revealed a systemic failure that is nothing short of dystopian.
I am not sitting by while the current family court system continues to shatter families without the requirement of full evidential proof. Through SAFE, I am mobilizing a movement to bring transparency to these private proceedings, hold the system accountable, and ensure that 'Children’s Welfare First' becomes more than just a phrase—it must become the law.
I am fighting for my children, but this mission is for every child and every parent caught in this system. Together, I believe we can build a fairer, more accountable Scotland.
Our Commitment
SAFE Family Courts Scotland was established to address systemic failures in family court proceedings where children’s voices are often overlooked and justice is compromised. Our mission is rooted in demanding factual transparency, ensuring child advocacy remains central, promoting evidence-based fairness, and eradicating abuse through coercive control perpetrated in post-separation settings. We believe that justice must be clear, credible, and compassionate.
